27 Тамуза: Пам'ять про рабі Єгуду-Лейба
Скромність і глибина знань сина Мітелер Ребе
Son of the Mitteler Rebbe
On 27 Tammuz 5653 (1893), the earthly journey of Rabbi Yehuda Leib Schneersohn came to an end — the son of the second Lubavitcher Rebbe, the Mitteler Rebbe (Rabbi DovBer Schneuri). Rabbi Yehuda Leib belonged to the "royal" family of Chabad and from childhood was immersed in the deepest secrets of Chassidic teaching. His father, the Mitteler Rebbe, was known for his extensive and profoundly deep maamarim, and Rabbi Yehuda Leib inherited this passion for depth of knowledge.
An Example of Modesty
Despite his distinguished lineage and enormous erudition, Rabbi Yehuda Leib was known above all for his extraordinary modesty. He did not seek publicity or honors, preferring a quiet life devoted to Torah study, prayer, and the service of God. His modesty became an example for subsequent generations of Chassidim, a reminder that true greatness lies not in outward brilliance but in inner depth and purity of intention.
An Example of Continuity
The life of Rabbi Yehuda Leib is a vivid example of the continuity of Chassidic tradition. Each generation of the Schneersohn family made its unique contribution to the development of Chassidic teaching — not only those who became Rebbes and led the movement, but also other family members who, through their scholarship, righteousness, and modesty, strengthened the foundation of Chabad. The memory of Rabbi Yehuda Leib reminds us that in the Chassidic movement, the contribution of each individual matters, not only those who stand at the pinnacle of leadership.
