Синдром «Self-made man»: чому віра у свої сили — це духовний інфантилізм

The "self-made man" culture teaches: rely on yourself and you'll achieve everything. The sources, however, assert: this stage of development corresponds to the level of an adolescent, not a mature person.

Stages of Maturing Trust

A person passes through ten stages of developing trust. An infant relies on the mother. A child — on the father. A teenager — on both parents. A young person — on themselves. This is the fourth stage. From there begins the path to maturity: a person discovers that their strength is insufficient and begins to seek support outside themselves — first in society, then in wisdom, then in faith, and finally — in complete trust in the Creator. The tenth stage is the understanding that even trust itself is a gift from Above, not your personal achievement.

The Collapse of Self-Confidence

The tenth, highest stage of trust is the understanding that all your efforts are merely decoration, and the true Director is God. At this level, a person realizes: not "I earned it" but "it was given to me." Not "I achieved it" but "I was allowed to." The sources warn: the one who lingers at the fourth stage and considers themselves the cause of their success, God deprives of His special providence. Not as punishment, but by logic: if you manage on your own — why do you need My help? Self-confidence is not strength but an invitation to remain without Divine protection.
