Ілюзія власності: чому ваші гроші вам не належать

Many people spend their lives accumulating capital, considering it the key to their security. However, according to Torah sources, the belief that wealth belongs to a person is a dangerous delusion.

Wealth as Someone Else's Deposit

In reality, the money you possess can be divided into three categories: your personal means for sustenance, means for your dependents, and "someone else's deposit." Often a person accumulates enormous sums they will never be able to spend. In such cases, they are merely a temporary guardian, protecting property that will ultimately pass to their righteous heir or even to their enemy.

The Curse of "Scattered Thoughts"

Wealth often becomes not a blessing but a source of stress. The sources mention the concept of "scattered thoughts," when a person's assets are spread across different places, robbing them of sleep and peace. While an ordinary worker sleeps peacefully, excess property forces the wealthy to constantly worry about the safety of their savings.

The Ethical Trap

The greatest mistake is arrogance. A person who has accumulated wealth often expects gratitude from those they help. But the sources state: the wealthy person should themselves thank God for choosing them as a channel (funnel) for transmitting blessings to others. If a person considers money their own merit, they commit a form of idolatry, endowing the "means" (money) with the power of the "Cause" (God).
