Сіван і Тамуз: Стійкість у вигнанні та порятунок в океані
Від арешту Ребе Раяца до дивовижного прибуття до Америки
15 Sivan — The Arrest (1927)
On the fifteenth of Sivan 5687 (1927), GPU agents arrested the Rebbe Rayatz (Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Schneerson) in his Leningrad apartment. When a pistol was pointed at his face, the Rebbe uttered words that became the motto of the entire Chassidic movement: "Schneersons fear no one but G-d." He faced execution, but the 19 days — from arrest to full liberation on 12-13 Tammuz — became a time of miracle. The Soviet machine of repression, capable of destroying anyone, proved powerless before the force of faith. The arrest and liberation of the Rebbe Rayatz became proof: when a Jew stands firm with absolute mesirat nefesh (self-sacrifice), even empires retreat.
28 Sivan — Koach Sivan (1941)
On the twenty-eighth of Sivan 5701 (1941), the ship "Serpa Pinto" arrived in New York harbor, carrying on board the Rebbe — Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson — and Rebbetzin Chaya Mushka. On the hull of the ship was written "PORTUGAL" — and this was a miracle: a Portuguese vessel had snatched the future leader of world Jewry from a burning Europe. When the Rebbe stepped onto American soil, he recited the blessing "Baruch mechaye ha-meitim" — "Blessed is He who resurrects the dead." These words were not merely a prayer: they were a declaration — a new era was beginning, an era of the resurrection of Jewish life on a new continent.
3 Tammuz — The Sun of Faith
The third of Tammuz is the day when, through the prayer of Yehoshua bin Nun, the sun stood still over Givon so that the people of Israel could complete their victory. This day became a symbol that the laws of nature are subject to the will of G-d and His righteous ones. In 5754 (1994), on the third of Tammuz, the histalkus (passing) of the Seventh Lubavitcher Rebbe occurred. However, Chassidim believe that the Rebbe's influence after histalkus not only did not cease but intensified. Like the sun stopped by Yehoshua, the Rebbe's light continues to illuminate the world, and every Chassid feels his guidance in their life.
