21 Nisan — Shvii shel Pesach: The Splitting of the Red Sea

The seventh day of Pesach marks the day when one of the greatest miracles in history occurred: the splitting of the Red (Reed) Sea. The waters parted and the entire nation of Israel crossed on dry ground, while Pharaoh's pursuing army was swallowed by the waves. The Midrash relates that children were the first to recognize G-d at the sea and exclaimed: "This is my G-d!" For this reason, the Rebbe placed special emphasis on children during these days, organizing special children's assemblies — "rallies." The Rebbe taught that the purity of a child's faith can awaken miracles even in our generation. Shvii shel Pesach reminds us: when a person stands before an insurmountable obstacle, G-d is capable of splitting the sea itself — one need only take the first step forward with complete trust in the Creator.

22 Nisan — Acharon shel Pesach: The Feast of Mashiach

The last day of Pesach (outside the Land of Israel) — Acharon shel Pesach — is suffused with the light of the future Redemption. The Baal Shem Tov established the custom of holding a "Seudat Mashiach" — a "Feast of Mashiach" — on this day, at which matza is eaten and four cups of wine are drunk, similar to the Seder. The Rebbe Rashab (the fifth Lubavitcher Rebbe) strengthened this tradition, and the Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, transformed it into a grand event filled with singing, Chassidic discourses, and unwavering faith in the imminent coming of Mashiach. Acharon shel Pesach is the bridge between the Exodus from Egypt and the final Geulah: just as G-d took us out of Egypt, so He will bring us to the complete and final Redemption — and faith in this is not an abstract hope but a living reality that we experience at the Feast of Mashiach.
