2 Іяра: Народження Ребе Маараша (5594/1834)

Народження четвертого Любавицького Ребе та його унікальний підхід

Birth in Lubavitch

On 2 Iyar 5594 (1834), in the town of Lubavitch, Rabbi Shmuel Schneersohn was born — the fourth Lubavitcher Rebbe, known as the Rebbe Maharash (an acronym for "Moreinu HaRav Shmuel"). His father, the Tzemach Tzedek (the third Rebbe), welcomed the birth of his youngest son with great joy, seeing in this event a special act of divine providence.

The Joy of the Tzemach Tzedek

At the bris (circumcision) of the infant, the Tzemach Tzedek delivered profound Chassidic maamarim (discourses), which was unusual even for such a significant occasion. In addition, the Tzemach Tzedek purchased a plot of land in honor of his son's birth — a symbolic gesture signifying the "rooting" of a new generation in this world. From early childhood, Rabbi Shmuel displayed extraordinary abilities and depth of understanding.

"Lechatchila Ariber"

The Rebbe Maharash became renowned for his unique approach to life's challenges, expressed in the motto "Lechatchila Ariber" — "From the start — break through." While most people first try to go around an obstacle from below, and only if that fails do they try to jump over it, the Rebbe Maharash taught: from the very start one should break through, leaping over obstacles rather than trying to find a way around them. This approach became the symbol of the entire month of Iyar in Chassidic tradition and continues to inspire thousands of people around the world to take decisive action in the face of difficulties.
