Річний цикл: Від Іяра до Швата — уроки та смисли
Кожна дата — живе джерело енергії для служіння
The Chassidic calendar is not merely a list of commemorative dates. Each month carries unique spiritual energy, and a Jew's task is to reveal it and apply it in their service of God. Here are the key lessons from Iyar to Shvat.
Iyar: "Lechatchila Ariber" — From the Very Start, Over the Obstacle
The month of Iyar is linked to the teaching of the Rebbe Maharash (the fourth Lubavitcher Rebbe): "The world says: if you cannot go under, climb over. But I say: from the very start — go over!" This principle of "lechatchila ariber" teaches us not to seek roundabout ways before obstacles but to rise above them immediately. In spiritual work this means: do not fight darkness on its level but ascend to a level where darkness does not exist.
Sivan: 28 Sivan — Transformation
On 28 Sivan 5701 (1941), the Rebbe and Rebbetzin Chaya Mushka arrived in America, having escaped war-torn Europe. This day became a turning point — the beginning of America's transformation from a spiritual wasteland into the world center of Torah and Chassidism. The lesson: even the darkest place can become a source of the greatest light.
Tammuz: Above Nature
The liberation of the Rebbe Rayatz on 12–13 Tammuz is a lesson that a Jew can act above the laws of nature. When a person is completely devoted to God, God acts for them beyond the natural order of things.
Menachem-Av: 40 Days Before Rosh Hashanah
Menachem-Av is the month of consolation. Forty days before Rosh Hashanah (that is, from 20 Av), the period of preparation for the new year begins. The Rebbe taught that it is precisely from the depth of destruction (9 Av) that the greatest consolation and renewal are born.
Elul: Chai Elul — Two Luminaries
18 Elul is the birthday of two great luminaries: the founder of Chassidism, the Baal Shem Tov (5458/1698), and the founder of Chabad, the Alter Rebbe (5505/1745). This day infuses "vitality" (chayus) into all the spiritual work of the month of Elul — the month of preparation for Rosh Hashanah.
Kislev: 19 Kislev — Spread Outward
19 Kislev is the "Rosh Hashanah of Chassidism," the day the Alter Rebbe was liberated from the Peter-Paul Fortress. The main lesson: the teachings of Chassidism must be spread "outward" — reaching every Jew, even the most distant.
Tevet: "Didan Notzach" — Our Victory
On 5 Tevet 5747 (1987), the court ruled that the Rebbe's library belongs to the Chassidim. "Didan Notzach" ("our victory") became a symbol that holy books and teachings are inseparably bound to the community that lives by them.
Shvat: "Basi Legani" — The Mission
On 10 Shvat 5710 (1950), the sixth Rebbe passed away and the seventh Rebbe's leadership began. The maamar "Basi Legani" ("I have come into My garden") became the defining document: our generation's task is to make this lowest world a dwelling place for God, completing the mission begun by Abraham.
