In fact, it’s interesting that one of the attractions for which OkanaganLakeisfamousisOgopogo,thelegendarylakemonster that reputedly resides there. Also known as Naitaka (Salish: n'ha-a-itk, "lake demon"), Ogopogo is the name giventoa cryptidlakemonsterreportedtolivetherethathasbeen allegedly seenby FirstNationspeoplesincethe19thcentury.The most common description of Ogopogo isa40to50-foot-long(12 to 15 m) sea serpent. Actually, there’s something familiar about this story: On the 12th day of Teves, 5747, the Rebbe quoted amidrashthatdescribeda bodyofwaterthatwasinhabitedbyademon.Thelocalresidents were instructed to go there and make a tumult while screaming “didan notzach” until it was eradicated. And that pretty much sums up the sacredmissionofeachofus: Wherever we may find ourselves, there is bound to be the local Ogopogo. There is undoubtedly the presence of some demon, some heir of theoriginalserpent,thatterrorizes,confusesand/or 13 misleads the local populace. And our job is to show up on the scene and make a tumult. A tumult through shiurim, through Shabbos meals,
