The word for “wilderness” (‫)מִ דְ בָּ ר‬ can be alternately pronounced as “speaker” (‫)מְ דַ בֵּ ר‬, meaning that while speaking in prayer, one should unify kingdom—represented by the word “is it” (‫ )זֹאת‬5—with understanding— represented by “who” (‫)מִ י‬, 6 or in much simpler terms, one should unite one’s intent and 5F thought (understanding) with one’s speech (kingdom). Here are the first few covenant numbers in graphic form: Let us note that the verse describing the special relationship Noach had with God, which formed the basis for the covenant God made with him is, “And Noach found favor in God’s eyes” (‫הוה‬-‫)וְ נֹחַ מָ צָ א חֵ ן בְ ּ עֵ ינֵי י‬.
