R’ Shmerel obligingly explained that this was based on the teachings of Chassidus Chabad, that the phrase ‫מלך משובח ומפואר‬, Hashem is a king that is praised and glorified, has various explanations. In the end, even though R’ Shmerel had said that he was not in Meron as a Mashpia, he sat and Farbrenged with them until late in the night as they eagerly listened and drank in the words of Chabad Chassidus. After his new friends finished singing, R’ Shmerel told them that just as we humans say that Shabbos is similar to Olam Habah, in the supernal worlds they sing the same thing, just with a small difference. ‫לע"נ הרה"ת ר' יוסף יצחק ב"ר אשר ז"ל‬ B"H ‫ספורי‬ LAG BAOMER IN MERON 1917 ‫חסידים‬ During the meal the Chassidim sang the Zmirah of ‫מעין עולם הבא‬, a taste of the World to Come. Realizing the predicament he was in, R' Shmerel decided to placate them by explaining that for Shabbos he was merely there to be Mekabel, to receive, rather than to be Mashpia, to give. When we overcome the disturbances and challenges and serve Hashem, it is a glorified service, even though it may not be as praiseworthy and clean as the service of the Malachim.
