Sergeant: "Don't worry sir.......We'll find your car." Statement: In this week’s Parashas of Yisro, we find the words that are used to recite the kiddush of Shabbos day, where it says: ‫ וְיֹום הְַּׁש בִיעִי‬But the seventh day ‫ ַׁשָּבת לַה’ אֱֹלקֶיָך‬is a Sabbath to the HaShem, your G-d, ‫ ֹלא תַ עֲֶׂשה כָל מְ לָאכָה‬you shall perform no labor ‫( אַ ָּת ה‬neither) you ‫ ּובִ נְָך ּובִֶּת ָך‬or your son, or your daughter ‫ עַ בְְּד ָך וַאֲ מָתְ ָך ּובְ הֶ מְֶּת ָך‬your servant and maidservant, and your animals ‫ וְ גֵרְ ָך‬or your stranger ‫ אֲֶׁשר ִּבְׁש עָרֶ יָך‬that is within your gates.[1] Question: Do you notice anything missing? Although Rashi does state that this biblical directive applies to ‫גְּדוֹלִים‬-adults, which would imply both mother and father, perhaps it could be said that the reason it says ‫ אַתָּ ה‬- “you” in the singular (and not the plural ‫ )אַתֶּ ם‬is to teach us the following: In order to influence and educate one’s children - especially in the realm of Torah observance (although it is mainly incumbent upon the father to educate his children) it requires the combined efforts of both parents to create a positive atmosphere that helps to reinforce the joys and benefits of Shabbos observance. The Talmudic Sages taught,[6] “One who loves his wife as he loves himself, and who honors her more than himself, and who instructs his sons and daughters in an upright path...about him the verse states: ‫וְ י ָדַ עְָּת ִּכי ָׁשלֹום ָאהֳ לֶָך‬- And you shall know that your tent is in peace.”[7] May this peace and success be a strong link for generations to come and as a result “‫ ּופָ קַדְ ָּת נָוְָך וְֹלא תֶ חֱ טָא‬- and when you reflect upon your home, you will find nothing missing.” (‫)דברי שאגתי‬ 1. She went shopping yesterday and has still not come home." Sergeant: "How tall is she, sir?" Moishe: "I think she’s 5 foot something." Sergeant: "And what about her build?" Moishe: She's not slim, but she’s not fat either." Sergeant: "What color are her eyes sir?" Moishe: "Um…I can’t remember." Sergeant: "And what about the color of her hair?" Moishe: "It changes all t
