Instead many Rishonim called this Parasha by the name of “‫ פָּרֳ שַׁת ז ֹאת תִּ הְ י ֶה‬- Parashas Zos Tihyeh.” These include: ● Rav Saadia Gaon - In his Siddur (with regard to the laws of the reading of the Torah) ● Rashi - In his commentary to Vayikra 13:8 ● Rambam - In his Seder Tefillos at the conclusion of Sefer Ahavah Other Sages[3] refer to this Parasha, using the more refined title of “‫ פָּרֳ שַׁת טָ הֳרוֹת‬- Parashas Tohoros (Purity)”, since it deals with the purification of a leper. On the pasuk, “‫ וְ הַָּצרּועַ אֲֶׁשר ּבֹו הֶַּנגַע‬- As for the person with a leprous affection…”[10] Rabbeinu Bachya[11] quotes the Midrash there saying, “According to Midrash Eicha Rabbasi, the word ַ‫ הַָּצרּוע‬may be understood as a reference to the Temple...” Not only that, even the Shechina (the Divine Presence) itself is compared to a Metzora, as the Zohar states, “‫ ׁשְ כִינְּתָ א ּבְ גָלּותָ א ּכִ מְצֹורָ ע‬- The Shechina in exile is like a Metzora.”[12] Lesson: Rabbi Elimelech Biderman, known by some as the Maggid of Jerusalem, shares the following idea: On the words of ‫הַח ֹדֶ שׁ הַ זֶּה לָ כֶם‬, the Midrash states: Angels ask Hakadosh Baruch Hu, "Ribono Shel Olam, when will You make Yom Tov?"
