In his address, which was also heard live at Lubavitch installations around the world, the Rebbe alluded to the obvious isolation of the Jewish people from the other nations of the world, and stated that it is now common knowledge that might and power are no longer measured in terms of sheer quantity of arms but rather by the forces of energy and the unique qualities which can be extracted from even minute particles. "Though the Jews as a people are small in number, as mentioned in the Bible," the Rebbe said, "their binding themselves together gives them the essential characteristics of quality over quantity." "When, for example, a Jew puts on Tefillin," the Rebbe said, "he becomes one with Jews in far-flung corners of the world who do likewise. This unification of Jews in all parts of the world, and their link to their ancestors and historic heritage can be accomplished only through the mass observancelof Torah and Mitzvos, and herein lies the essential strength indigenous to the Jewish people," the Rebbe said.
