B"H ‫ספורי‬ THE TORN LETTERS ‫חסידים‬ As told by R’ Shlomo Galperin: R’ Yisroel Friedman A’H once saw R’ Asher Sossonko A’H, who he greatly respected, sitting in 770, concentrating very deeply as he wrote something before immediately tearing up the paper. Distraught, some Chassidim were trying to somehow convince the Rebbe to come out and address the children's parade With all that was going on, R’ Asher was very worried for his friend and he didn’t want there to, G-d forbid, be any sort of kpeida against R’ J.J. However, R’ Asher was having difficulty figuring out how to properly express his tremendous Ahavas Yisrael for his fellow Jew, while still being sure to write with the utmost respect to our Rebbe, hence his repeated frustrated efforts. R’ Asher explained that he was trying to write a letter to the Rebbe regarding the topic Rebbe had spoken about during the farbrengen the previous Shabbos, but was unsure of how to properly word his thoughts. That Shabbos, during the farbrengen, the Rebbe had announced that he would not be coming out to the Lag B’Omer parade and had explained that this was due to an incident that had recently taken place. Confused by this behavior, R’ Yisroel noticed that there was a stack of clean paper in front of R’ Asher and a mass of crumpled and torn papers piling up underneath his feet. R’ Yisroel watched silently as the cycle began again, R’ Asher concentrating hard and writing something down before abruptly tearing the paper up once more in frustration. Hecht A’H, the well-known Chassid who had organized the parade, was beside himself, worried what a parade without the Rebbe’s attendance would be like. ‫לע"נ הרה"ת ר' יוסף יצחק ב"ר אשר ז"ל‬ B"H ‫ספורי‬ THE TORN LETTERS ‫חסידים‬ R’ Yisroel immediately knew what R’ Asher was talking about. R’ Yisroel hastily explained that he was not worried about that, but instead was curious as to why R’ Asher kept tearing up what he wrote!
