B"H ‫ספורי‬ R' MICHOEL BLINNER ‫חסידים‬ As told over by R’ Nochum Shmarya Sasonkin A’H (R’ Shmerel Batumer): R’ Michoel Blinner A’H, one of the Mashpiim in Tomchei Tmimim in Lubavitch, was an ardent adherent of Ahavas Yisroel, the biblical precept to love your fellow Jew. ‫לע"נ הרה"ת ר' יוסף יצחק ב"ר אשר ז"ל‬ B"H ‫ספורי‬ R' MICHOEL BLINNER ‫חסידים‬ It was an especially great pleasure to hear R’ Michoel teach Likutei Torah and that more than once, he would burst into tears when he would teach a topic of awakening oneself for the service of the heart. The reason why that pain may not be felt is because one may have blemished their Neshama and fallen so much that he is completely separated and cut off from his source, Hashem.’ When R’ Michoel reached the words ‘completely separated and cut off from his source’ he burst out into bitter tears.” ‫לע"נ הרה"ת ר' יוסף יצחק ב"ר אשר ז"ל‬ R’ Shmerel Batumer related the following incident which illustrated R’ Michoel’s great love for his fellow Jew and his connection to (this type of) Avodas Hashem: “I will never forget the intense impact R’ Michoel left upon us, when he taught the maamar of Ani L’dodi. R’ Michoel would carry the firewood around on his own shoulders, and if there was no one in the house who knew how to safely build a fire, he would spend time doing so himself before moving on to the next person who needed his help. Instead, R’ Michoel would work tirelessly to gather firewood and distribute it to the poor people of the city who suffered the most from the inclement weather and relentless frost, especially to those homes with small children. Another way R’ Michoel practiced the Mitzvah of Ahavas Yisroel was with his tremendous love for his students who felt delight at seeing his radiant face shining from his wisdom and Chassidishkeit. He was so connected to the bochurim that he often anticipated what they needed before they themselves realized it, and all the Bochurim had a powerful love for R’ Michoel in return.
