The Rosh Yeshiva, who was a Misnaged, let the bochurim know that the shiur would have to end, and if they wanted to continue learning Chassidus, they would have to go to a different Yeshiva. R’ Meir’s family was not too fond of Chabad Chassidus, as they believed that Chassidus was not something that should be learned by either the masses or the young. He simply responded, “Nu, let us open our own Yeshiva!” After Pesach, the new Tomchei Tmimim in Warsaw was established by these twelve bochurim, located in the local Chabad shul.
