CHABAD ‫ב"ה‬ RESEARCH UNIT he Rebbe's Discourses T Summaries of points from the Rebbe’s Chassidic Discourses ‫בלי אחריות כלל וכלל‬ ‫ש"פ תרומה פ' שקלים ד"ה כי תשא תשל''ד בלתי מוגה‬ Published for Shabbat Sedra Terumah Parshat Shekalim 1 Adar 5785, 1 March 20251 LEVELS OF FAITH HEN YOU LIFT UP (COUNT) THE HEADS OF THE W ISRAELITES.. When the person’s Faith is healthy and the way it should be, it affects all aspects of the thoughts 1 Maamar Ki Tisa 5734 (1974), not edited by the Rebbe, said on Shabbat Rosh Chodesh Adar, Sedra Terumah, Parshat Shekalim. Indeed, the half shekalim were used to pay for the public offerings which were offered daily on behalf of the entire Jewish people throughout the year, which is also something general for the people as a whole. That even though they have the inborn Faith of Abraham, and they can understand it rationally as well, they need the higher level of Faith which comes from the Essence of the Divine. The Faith from Abraham and the Patriarchs is Faith on the level of the Divine Radiance, whether the immanent or the transcendent radiance, memaleh kol almin or sovev kol almin. Instead of this, we need the service of ‘pasturing Faith’, nurturing our Faith so that it percolates though our entire being and affects every aspect of our behaviour. If the thief thought this through properly, he might come to realise that there is no need for him to steal, he could pray to G-d to help him find an honest living. But the Faith which is nurtured in us by Moses comes from the opening phrase of the Ten Commandments: I am the L-rd your G-d, Who took you out of the Land of Egypt. In Jewish thought, ten is a special number, as we see from the Ten Commandments, the Ten Utterances with which the world was created, and the Ten Divine Sefirot. What is meant in terms of our service of the Divine, is that the theme of Faith, Emunah, has to be drawn down into each of the ten aspects of our inner being.
