The duality of these polarized interpretations of the word ‫ לא‬in the passuk reveals that even when Am Yisrael appears as if we are not His nation because He rejected us by destroying the Beis Hamikdash and sending us into galus, nevertheless we are still His nation and it is not a complete divorce.
