Rather, although they had time to consider and reconsider their decision, they brought the ‫קרבן‬ because they had made a serious commitment to leave the ‫ עבודה זרה‬of ‫ מצרים‬behind, and were ready to leave ‫ מצרים‬to be servants only to Hashem Himself. (While an animal does need to be examined for 4 days before being brought as a ‫קרבן‬, to ensure that it is fit to be brought as a ‫קרבן‬, the person who will be bringing the ‫ קרבן‬isn’t usually required to own it during that time period). ANSWER: In preparing to leave ‫מצרים‬, the Jewish people had to tear themselves away from the ‫ עבודה זרה‬of ‫מצרים‬, in which they were steeped. This is why Hashem instructed that before they would actually bring the ‫קרבן‬, they would first hold on to the sheep for 4 days. They would do this by taking a _______ – which the Egyptians worshipped – and slaughtering it as a ‫ קרבן‬for Hashem. This would show that this was not just a quick act of bringing a ‫ קרבן‬without much thought. QUESTION: Why was it necessary for the Jewish people to take the sheep __ days in advance?
