B"H ‫ספורי‬ NOT EATING MEAT ‫חסידים‬ As told in the sefer Reshimos Dvarim: R’ Itche Der Masmid HY”D was well known for being extremely meticulous in the observance of all mitzvos. One Yom Kippur, R’ Itche wanted R’ Yehuda Chitrik A’H to be the shochet for his kaporos, and so he asked R’ Yehuda to wake him extra early on Erev Yom Kippur to do it. R’ Yehuda agreed and woke R’ Itche early on Erev Yom Kippur; and before he schechted R’ Itche’s chicken, R’ Yehuda showed him the chalif (knife used for schechita). For example, for many years R’ Itche did not eat meat or chicken, because he could not trust that the shechita would be up to his standards. The two chassidim then went to the slaughterhouse, and R’ Itche remained deep in thought throughout the entire shechita process. After carefully examining the chalif, R’ Itche told R’ Yehuda that it was the best prepared chalif he had ever seen.
