In ‫פרשת זכור‬, Hashem commands us to remember what the nation of ‫ עמלק‬did to us when we left ‫מצרים‬, and that when we would all arrive and settle in ‫ארץ ישראל‬, we should eventually completely __________ the nation of ‫עמלק‬. QUESTION: Nowadays, we are not all living in ‫ארץ ישראל‬, and we have no way of knowing who in the world is actually a descendant of the nation of ‫עמלק‬, so we cannot fulfill the ‫ מצוה‬to actually destroy ‫עמלק‬. ANSWER: Just as the nation of ‫ עמלק‬physically attacked ‫ בני ישראל‬on their way to receiving the ______, there is a spiritual ‫ עמלק‬that might prevent a Yid from fully accepting and fulfilling the ‫תורה‬. The physical nation of ‫ עמלק‬knew about all the miracles that Hashem had done for the Jewish people, and how Hashem had punished the Egyptians, yet he still attacked the ‫בני ישראל‬. The spiritual ‫ עמלק‬might try to get someone who knows about Hashem, to still refuse to actually do what he has to do, and live his life according to Hashem’s instructions. Since we cannot destroy ‫עמלק‬, why is there still a ‫ מצוה‬to ___________ what they did?
