Apr 28, 2023 ) Death of the Righteous and Forgiveness Statement: “...‫ַאחֲרֵ י מֹות שְׁ נֵי בְּ נֵי ַאהֲר ֹן‬...- after the death of the two sons of Aaron…"[1] This parashah prefaces the episode of the death of Nadav and Avihu, the two sons of Aharon, with the laws of Yom Kippur. Since all those that are pained by the righteous who have passed on, or who shed tears for them, G-d proclaims over him, 'Your sins are removed, your iniquities forgiven.' Not just that, but his children will not die in his days as it says, 'He will see seed (children), and lengthen his days.[11] In relation to the first point on the death of Nadav and Avihu, the Meshech Chochma comments on the above and writes the following: “The explanation that Yom Kippur atones since it is a “‫ עֵ ת רָ צֹון‬- a time of desire”, an auspicious time for HaShem in which He forgives the sins of His people, the B’nei Yisroel - so too is the death of Tzaddikim… and it results in a divine protective element, but it is conditional that it be like Yom Kippur - i.e. Besides the influence of a Tzaddik that one feels when they are alive, the Talmud says: “‫ מָה בְּ חַ י ֵיהֶן כְַּך בְּ מִיתָ תָ ן עַל ַאחַת כַּ מָה וְ כַ מָה‬- Rabbi Yehuda HaNasi wept and said (regarding the greatness of Pinchas Ben Yair) "Just as it is during their lifetime, so too after their death it is all the more so - ‫ דְ ָאמַר ר' חַ מָא בַּר חַ נִינָא גְּדוֹלִים צַדִ יקִים בְּ מִיתָ תָ ן יוֹתֵ ר מִ בְּ חַ י ֵיהֶן‬- Rabbi Chama bar Chanina says: The righteous are greater after their death, more so than during their lifetime.”[14] On this idea, the Tanya states, "The life of a tzaddik is not a fleshly life but a spiritual life, consisting wholly of faith, awe, and love of G‑d... Koheles 7:2 ———————————‫———————————————————————————————— דברי שאגתי‬RebbeG@gmail.com—————————— “According to the Shulchan Aruch HaRav: One who does not innovate their “Supernal beings come to hear the novellae of Torah from those who dwell in Torah learning and merely reviews, even 101 times, has not fulfilled his this lower world . Moshe speaks to his brother and says in the name of HaShem, “‫ בִּ קְרֹבַי אֶ קָּדֵ שׁ וְ עַל־פְּ נֵי כָל־הָ עָם אֶ כָּ בֵד‬- ...I (HaShem) shall be sanctified by those who are close to Me.”[2] Rashi, ci
