Let your hearts not be faint; you shall not be afraid, and you shall not be panic, and do not break down before them; ‘‫ּכִ֚י ה‬ ‫ אֱֹלֽקיכֶ֔ם הַֽהֹלְֵ֖ עִּמָכֶ֑ם לְהִּלָחֵ֥ם לָכֶ֛ם עִם־אֹֽיְבֵיכֶ֖ם לְהֹוׁשִ֥יעַ אֶתְכֶֽם‬- For Hashem, your G-d, is the One Who goes with you, to ght for you with your enemies, to save you (Devarim 20:1-4). Rashi (Devarim 20:3) explains: ‫שמע‬ ‫ ּכְַדאי אַּתֶם ׁשֶּיֹוׁשִיעַ אֶתְכֶם‬,‫ אֲפִּלּו אֵין ּבָכֶם זְכּות אֶּלָא ְקִריאַת ׁשְמַע ּבִלְבַד‬.‫ ישראל‬- Hear O Israel: Even if there is no merit in you, but the recitation of the Shema alone, you are worthy that He should save you. ְָ‫ וְָראִיתָ סּוס וֶָרכֶב עַם ַרב מִּמ‬,ֶָ‫אֹיְב‬-‫תֵצֵא לַּמִלְחָמָה עַל‬-‫ ּכִי‬- When we go to war with the brutal enemy, and we see their ‘horse and chariot,’ their paraglides, bulldozers, motorcycles, their drones, missiles and rockets, we may feel afraid. ‫ּכִי ה’ ּדִּבֵר‬--‫הָאֶָרץ‬-‫ יָסִיר מֵעַל ּכָל‬,‫ּפָנִים; וְחְֶרּפַת עַּמֹו‬-‫ ּומָחָה ה’ אלקים ּדִמְעָה מֵעַל ּכָל‬,‫ ּבִּלַע הַּמָוֶת לָנֶצַח‬- He will swallow up death forever, and the Hashem shall wipe away the tears from upon every face, and the shame of His people He shall remove from upon the entire earth, for Hashem has spoken (Yeshayahu 25:8).
