The Tzemach Tzedek asked,”Didn’t you receive the package I sent you?” Reb Yekusiel answered, ”I ate it as soon it arrived, as it is known , ‘upon receiving something from the Rebbe, it should be consumed immediately so that the nourishment from the Rebbe will help improve one’s understanding of Chassidus and one’s service in prayer.”’ Finally, the Rebbe invited Reb Yekusiel to join his own Seder. Yom Kippur however manifests the service of pushing away, physicality [fasting etc.] While the service of Pasach is to turn over physicality to holiness after separating the bad and completely destroying it by burning it up erev Pesach. This story teaches us a lesson about our bond to the Rebbe, as the Mikilta says on the posuk, ‘They had emunah in B”H st 1 Pasach Hashem and Moshe his servant’ the perfection of faith in Hashem is faith in Moshe his servant. After destroying the bad completely we bring the Pasach goats and finally consume them at the Seder in a relaxed and happy way signifying freedom from constriction –transforming the physical to holiness. But the hint to Yom Kippur of the two goats is that the service of Yom Kippur is also a transformation of physicality to holiness as manifest by the fact that Yitzchak ate the goats. Yom Kippur has the one that was shechted and brought on the alter by the Kohen Gadol and the goat that would be thrown off the cliff in the desert to atone for our sins. [over] B”H st 1 Pasach Seder of Reb Yekusiel The Tzemach Tzedek used to send food for the Seder [matzah and moror etc] to the guests who came to Lubavitch for Pesach. Certainly Reb Yekusiel knew that the Tzemach Tzedek had sent him the package for the Seder, so why would he have eaten it immediately!? Reb Yekusiel didn’t feel his own existence in this relationship so he wasn’t worried about what he would have at the Seder. He would send it in plenty of time before the holiday so the guests wouldn’t have to worry about having it for the Seder.
