Rabbi Immanuel Bernstein 2023 / 5783 Pshuto PSHUTOShel Mikra SHEL MIKRA From the Teachings of Rav Yehuda Copperman zt”l Parshat Yitro Moshe’s Additional Day of Preparation for Matan Torah :וְ קִ ַּדׁשְ ּתָ ם הַ ּיוֹם ּומָ חָ ר Prepare them today and tomorrow. (Shemot 19:10) The Source The Gemara in Masechet Shabbat (87a) relates the following regarding the timing of Matan Torah: On that day, Hashem instructed Moshe “ — וְ קִ ּדַ ׁשְ ּתָ ם הַ ּיו ֹם ּומָ חָ רprepare them today and tomorrow.” (Shemot 19:10) In which case, that instruction was said at a time when the people had already left the status of Bnei Noach and attained the status of “Yisrael.”10 Therefore, in keeping with their new status, it was c
