TORAH ON THE PARSHA - BY RABBI DOV KEILSON ‏זכרון אבינעם‎ ZICHRON AVINOAM תולדות / 842 IN MEMORY OF AVINOAM GROSSMAN - ‎ry‏ הבחזר החשוב אבינעם ע"ה בן שמזאל אהרן נ"י ‏ה' כסלו תשפ"ד ‎A NATION FOREVER‏ ‎I take this forum to share that just last Sunday, an excep- tional neighbor, a great giant in our small town of ‘Darchei- ville’ — R’ Moshe Underweiser a”h, Moshe Abba ben Melech — requested that I please add him to the email list of these Divrei Torah of Zichron Avinoam, which he received just one time before he left this world on 2 Kislev (the heilige yahrzeit of Rav Aharon Kotler and Rav Nosson Wachtfogel, zt”). ‎Amazingly, the mefarshim (Avudraham, Magen Av- raham, Mishnah Berurah) explain that based on Rabi Yochanan's statement in Bava Metzia above, one should not just say ‏,רצאצאינו"‎ our children;” rather, he should actu- ally add the words, ‏(וצאצאי צאצאינו"‎ and our children’s chil- dren” (note that Nusach Sefard does include those words) —for we are beseeching Hashem Yisbarach that the To- rah should remain with our families forever; because if the Torah will remain in the family for three generations, then it will always remain! ‎Sitting at a wedding one year ago, Rav Eytan Feiner shlita shared with me an incredible thing: This statement ‎of Rabi Yochanan blends beautifully with another state- ment of his in Maseches Berachos (11a): The beracha we make on the Torah each morning is that Hashem should allow the Torah to always remain with us and with our children, forever. The fact that all three generations are spoken about this week reveals to us the very great principle above: Three generations of tzaddikim, three generations of Avos, guarantee that closeness to Hashem and the perpetuation of our people that will continue forever. He saw that his nation was an eternal people, and he said, “I want to live for eternity...” During the next 15 years, until the moment he left this world, he connected to HaKadosh Ba- ruch Hu and His Torah in a way that some do not reach ina lifetime... ‎Chazal teach us a fascinating statement in Maseches Bava Metzia (85a) in the name of Rabi Yochanan: If one is a Torah scholar, and his son is a Tora
