Specifically, it was 1) the first day of Creation (i.e., it was Sunday), 2) the first day of the offerings brought by the princes, 3) the first day of kehuna, 4) the first day of service in the Mishkan, 5) the first time for the descent of fire onto the Mizbe’ach, 6) the first time that consecrated foods were eaten, 7) the first day of the resting of the Shechinah upon the Jewish people, 8) the first day that the Jewish people were blessed by the kohanim, 9) the first day of the prohibition to bring offerings on improvised altars, 10) and the first of the months. 3 Orach Chaim 580:2 1 No Tachnun or Fasting No Tachnun (confessionary prayer) is said throughout the entire month of Nissan.4 The reason for this is that the first twelve days of Nissan are considered holidays due to the special sacrifices brought on these days by the tribal leaders during the consecration of the Mishkan.5 The fourteenth day is Erev Pesach which is a holiday because of the Pesach sacrifice which was sacrificed on that day.
