After 120 years, when R’ Hillel was in Gan Eden and he (R’ Sholom) was roasting in Geheinom, he wanted to at least have a pipeline from Gan Eden to Geheinom so he could hear what was going on there! B"H ‫ספורי‬ THE PIPE FROM ‫חסידים‬ GEHEINOM INTO GAN EDEN As told in the sefer Reshimos Dvarim: There was a chassid by the name of R’ Sholom Hillel’s, meaning R’ Sholom the son of Hillel. R’ Sholom continued his explanation and said that the Gemara says that ‘when wine enters secrets are revealed,’ and he was asking R’ Hillel to reveal the secrets of the Torah and teach Chassidus. R’ Sholom explained that ‫( תפוח‬apple) stands for the words ‫תגלון פתגמין ותימרון‬ ‫( חידושא‬you will reveal words in the secrets of the Torah and deliver new insights in it). One Purim, R’ Sholom brought a mishloach manos to R’ Hillel which consisted of a bottle of wine and an apple. He would go with R’ Hillel wherever he went, and R’ Hillel cherished R’ Sholom as if he were his own son. However, he left the job of managing the store to his wife and dedicated himself instead to R’ Hillel. Namely, R’ Sholom clarified, he wanted to hear the Chassidus being taught and learned in Gan Eden. R’ Sholom was not a relative of R’ Hillel Paritcher, but was deeply connected to him. R’ Sholom grew up in Beshenkovitch and owned a successful store in the city.
