(See Mishna Berura Siman 263:34) 2) Here too, as with all candle lighting, if other electric lights/lamps will be left on in the room, they too should be turned on with the Mitzvah in mind and the Bracha over the candles should exempt the other lights as well. 3) In the event that there is adequate light in the corridor near the Bochurim’s apartment or via a streetlight near an open window in their room, and thus there is no need for a light/lamp in the room in order to provide light not to stumble, they should then not light candles with a Bracha in their apartment or room unless they will also be eating the Seudah there on Friday night near the candles.
