Hashem said, “In the place where that Tzaddik - Yaakov leaned upon him (Binyomin), I will rest my Shechina,” and so the posuk writes "‫"ובין כתפיו שכן‬, that Hashem rested the Beis HaMikdosh on the shoulders of Binyomin - a reference to the Beis HaMikdosh being in the portion of Binyomin. The (‫ט"ו‬:'‫ מדרש רבה רות )ב‬adds that within Noami’s words to her lay a Brocho that all the goodness and comfort that Hashem would give Shlomo HaMelech the descendent of Rus would happen because of Rus, no doubt this was as a result of the comfort and support that Rus had given to her mother-in- law. Now this really needs an explanation because why did Hashem consider the fact that Binyomin allowed Yaakov Ovinu to lean upon his shoulders to be so special that as a result, the Beis HaMikdosh was built in Binyomin’s portion and he is so beloved. The posuk writes that after Noami heard that the famine in Eretz Yisroel had ended, she turned to Rus and thanked her for doing Chesed with herself and her son and wished her well in the future. The question is why indeed was Binyomin chosen to have the Beis HaMikdosh in his portion and also, why was Binyomin given such a very special title “‫ – ידיד ה‬the beloved of Hashem”? The question is why indeed was Binyomin chosen to have the Beis HaMikdosh in his portion and also, why was Binyomin given such a very special title “ – ידיד הthe beloved of Hashem”? There is a fascinating ( ילקוט )תתקנ"זwhich brings various reasons for this. Amongst them, the Medrash gives a Moshol of a king who had many children. As they grew up, each child left the king’s palace and went on his way. However, the youngest of them all stayed behind in the palace.
