Sometimes – such as on the ‫ שבתות‬between ‫ שבעה עשר בתמוז‬and ‫ – ראש השנה‬the ‫ הפטרות‬were chosen because they are connected to this time of the year. Nevertheless, since we do read it on the same ‫שבת‬, there must still be some connection between the ‫ הפטרה‬and the weekly ______. The decree was only against reading ‫תורה‬, so the Jewish people began reading every week from ‫נביאים‬. Even now, we continue to read from the ‫ נביאים‬every week, after reading the weekly ‫פרשה‬. Usually, the ‫ הפטרה‬was chosen because of its connection to that week’s ‫פרשה‬.
