'‫ויבטחו בך יודעי שמך כי לא עזבת דרשיך ה‬ www.HalachaForToday.com ‫בס'ד‬ Halachos for Erev Shabbos Kodesh, January 21, 2022 Double Portion L'Kavod Shabbos Kodesh Halachos for Erev Shabbos Kodesh 1) Even if one witnessed a “Beinoni” transgressing a sin, where circumstances are such that it is all but impossible to find a favorable way to spin what he did, it is still proper to deem it in his heart as questionable (safek) if the person overtly transgressed a sin, rather than conclude that he absolutely is guilty. 2) The only alternative to having to seek and get forgiveness from the subject, is if he approaches all the others to whom he related what he heard/accepted and gets them to expel any negative feelings they have in their heart for the person who was spoken about. (This is very hard to accomplish, as thee is no real way to know if they indeed expelled it from their hearts) This will only work if no harm befell the one who was spoken about due to what was said about him, as once all who heard it expelled the negative information from their hearts, the situation is closed. Rav Yisroel Salanter Zatzal maintained that if going over to the person who you spoke against to ask for mechilah will cause them further harm, it is best not to let them know, and try to do as much Teshuva as possible, and try to spread good about that person in other ways. 2) If a person (or even two
