Here are the three levels of heart, intellect, and inner heart in relation to one another: • Interior of heart (‫)פְּ נִימִ יּוּת הַ לֵּב‬ • Intellect ( ַ‫)מֹ ח‬ • Heart (‫)לֵב‬ Another way to phrase this is to say that, although emotions are lower than the intellect, the root of the emotions is higher than both. In the Mussaf of the festivals we say, “Carry over for us the blessing of Your festivals for good life and peace, for joy and merriment” ( ‫ לְ שִ ׂמְ חָ ה‬.‫ לְ חַ יִּים ט ֹובִ ים ו ּלְ ׁשָ ל ֹום‬.‫יך‬ ָ ֶ‫וְהַ שּ ִ ׂיאֵ נו ּ ה' אֱ ל ֹקֵ ינו ּ אֶ ת בִ ּ ְרכַּ ת מ ֹועֲד‬ ‫ )ו ּלְ שָ ׂשׂ ֹון‬implying that the joy of each festival continues until the next one arrives so Shavu’ot extends to Sukkot.
