The pasuk continues to explain that all forms of bugs are included in the prohibition: ‫כל הולך על גחון וכל הולך על ארבע עד כל מרבה רגלים לכל השרץ השרץ על הארץ לא תאכלום כי‬ ‫ שקץ הם‬- “All that goes upon the belly, and all that goes on all fours, or all that has many feet—even all swarming things that swarm upon the earth—you shall not eat them, for they are a detestable thing.” Worms, spiders, centipedes, flies of all sorts and so on, are all prohibited. The Torah concludes this section by stressing why the above prohibition is so significant: ‫כי אני ה׳ המעלה אתכם מארץ מצרים להיות לכם‬ ‫ לאלקים והייתם קדושים כי קדוש אני‬- “For I am Hashem who brought you up (hama’aleh) from the land of Mitzrayim, to be your G-d; you shall therefore be holy, for I am holy” (Vayikra 11:45). This halachah appears to clash with a known halachic principle of ‫ אין מבטלין איסור לכתחילה‬- “one may not purposely annul a prohibition.” This means that it is forbidden to intentionally cause a prohibited food to be botul, and the halachos of bittul may only be relied on in bedieved. Tiny bugs The Gemara teaches that: ‫ לא ניתנה תורה למלאכי השרת‬- “The Torah was not given to ministering angels.” This means that the Torah was given in accordance with human limitations, and we are not expected to perform the Torah to a degree that transcends human capabilities. In the second to the last pasuk it says: ‫וכל מעשה תקפו וגבורתו ופרשת גדלת מרדכי אשר גדלו המלך הלוא הם כתובים על ספרי דברי הימים למלכי‬ ‫“ – מדי ופרס‬All of Mordechai’s heroics and the rest of the history of Mordechai’s authority are chronicled in the annals of the Persian empire”. They asked Reb Chaim if he had heard the first time he asked the question when he was in the middle of shemonei esrei, and he said that he heard nothing as he was ‫ עומד לפני המלך‬but as he was saying ‫ עושה שלום‬his mind wandered a bit and he heard the question. After Moshe instructed his brother and nephews exactly what to do, he concluded his remarks to them with the words: ‫ זה הדבר אשר צוה ה׳ תעשו וירא אליכם כבוד ה׳‬- “This is the thing that Hashem has commanded you
