Just as R’ Asher finished Davening this special Tefillah, an officer stopped him, asked for his papers, and brought him to KGB headquarters in the infamous ‘black car’ which was used for prisoners. After a pause, during which he gathered himself once more, the interrogator reasoned that even if there was no Tzadik in Russia, there had to be a place in which the Chassidim gathered together. As the interrogation continued and R’ Asher did not answer to the KGB’s satisfaction, the officer grew more and more furious, until in a fit of rage, he threw off R’ Asher’s hat. “You should know that since Schneerson left Russia, you, as his agent, are standing in judgment in his place,” barked the interrogator, but R’ Asher did not respond.
