Four special Torah passages are communally read '‫ ֶדער ֵסֶדר פּוּן ִדי ד‬.‫א‬ before Pesach: Parshas Shekalim, (which conveys the ‫ַּפ� ַ ְר �ִׁשִ ּיּ ֹוֹ ת וָוָ אס ֶמֶ ען ֵלֵ ייֶעֶ ְנְ ט‬ commandment to give a half-shekel), Parshas Zachor, ,‫ ַּפ� ַ ְר �ַׁשַ ת �ְׁשְ ָקִלִ ים‬:‫ַפַ אר ֶּפ� ֶ ַסח ִאיז‬ (which conveys the commandment to remember the ‫ ַּפ� ַ ְר �ַׁשַ ת ָּפ� ָ ָרה אּוּן‬,‫ַּפ� ַ ְר �ַׁשַ ת ָזָ כֹוֹ ר‬ attack of Amalek), Parshas Parah, (which describes the . ׁ‫ַּפ� ַ ְר �ַׁשַ ת ַהֹחֶֹדׁש‬ purification ritual involving the ashes of the Red Heifer), ‫ִּבִ � ְפְ ָרִט ּּיּוּת ַזַ ְיְ יֶנֶ ען ִדי ְצְ וֵוֵ יי‬ and Parshas HaChodesh, (which describes the establish- ‫ַּפ� ַ ְר �ִׁשִ ּיּ ֹוֹ ת �ְׁשְ ָקִלִ ים אּוּן ָזָ כֹוֹ ר‬ ment of the new months and the unique importance of ,‫ַפַ אְרְ ּבּ ּוְּנְ ְדן ִמִ יט �ְּגאּוּ ַַּל� ת ּפּוִּרים‬ Rosh Chodesh Nissan). ְ ָ‫וָוָ אס ֶעס ִאיז ָנ‬ ‫אְך ִנִ יט ֵקיין‬ In particular, the two passages of Shekalim and ‫ ַּכ�ַ ַּמ�ַ ֲאָמָ רא ַאַּכ�ַ ֵּת�ֵ י‬,‫�ְּגאּוּ ָָּל� ה �ְׁשְ ֵלֵ יָמָ ה‬ Zachor are connected with the redemption of Purim ‫ אּוּן ִדי‬,‫ַעְבֵדי ֲאַח �ְׁשְ ֵוֵ רֹוֹ ׁשׁ ֲאַנַ ן‬ – which was not a complete redemption, as our Sages – ׁ‫ַּפ� ַ ְר �ִׁשִ ּּיֹוֹ ת ָּפ� ָ ָרה אּוּן ַהֹחֶֹדׁש‬ commented, “We are still servants of Achashverosh…”1 ‫ וָוָ אס ִאיז ַא‬,‫ִמִ יט ְּג� אּוּ ַּל�ַ ת ֶּפ� ֶ ַסח‬ – while the passages of Parah and HaChodesh are con- ,‫ ִּב� ְכְ ָלָ לּוּת ָאֶּב�ֶ ער‬.‫�ְּגאּוּ ָָּל� ה �ְׁשְ ֵלֵ יָמָ ה‬ nected with the redempti
