The Power of Woman: Who Really Builds the Future?

In his letters to women, the Rebbe emphasized their unique and irreplaceable role in Jewish life. A woman determines the spiritual climate of the family — it is she who sets the tone, the atmosphere, and the direction of the entire household. In material and domestic matters, the Rebbe wrote, husbands should listen to their wives, for their intuition makes their opinion a priority. A woman's softness and patience prevent family conflicts and bring Shalom Bayit — peace and harmony that serve as the foundation of G-d's blessing. Without this foundation, neither wealth, nor career, nor social standing holds true value.

Raising children in the spirit of faith and devotion to Torah is the primary mission entrusted to the mother. The Rebbe wrote that a mother's living example — her joy in performing mitzvot, her sincere prayer and kindness — influences children immeasurably more than strict instructions or theoretical teachings. When a mother lights Shabbat candles with joy, when she recites blessings over food with reverence, when she shows compassion to those around her — children absorb this with their whole hearts and carry these values throughout their lives. A woman is the Akeret HaBayit, the foundation of the home, and through her G-d builds the future of the entire nation.
