נרקיסיזם דתי: למה תפילת העבריין היא עלבון לבורא

אמונה ללא קשר למציאות היא קליפה ריקה

נרקיסיזם דתי: למה תפילת העבריין היא עלבון לבורא

One of the most provocative ideas in the sources: one can be a deeply religious person and yet insult God with every action. Faith without trust is religious narcissism.

Faith Without Connection to Reality

The sources describe a thief who, before a robbery, stops to pray to God for the success of his "enterprise." This person possesses faith (emunah) — he believes that God exists, hears prayers, and can help. But he lacks trust (bitachon) — the awareness that God has already determined his portion, and theft is not a way to get more but a way to lose everything. Faith without trust is like a body without a soul — the outer shell exists, but there is no life in it.

God as Accomplice

When a person uses religion to serve their ego — praying not for closeness to the Creator but to obtain what they desire — they are essentially trying to make God an accomplice in their plans. This is the highest form of spiritual impudence: you don't submit to the Divine plan, but try to submit God to yours. True prayer is not a list of demands but an act of surrender: "Not my will, but Yours."
