ניסן — אייר: שרשרת הזהב של הדורות ושיעורים במנהיגות

מצוואותיו האחרונות של הרבי הרש"ב ועד העיקרון של "לכתחילה אריבער"

2 Nissan — Passing of the Rebbe Rashab (5680/1920)

On the second of Nissan 5680 (1920), in Rostov-on-Don, the fifth Lubavitcher Rebbe — the Rebbe Rashab (Rabbi Shalom DovBer Schneerson) — departed from this world. Before his passing, he uttered the famous words: "I am going to heaven, and the manuscripts I leave to you." Just as the Almighty invested His essence into the letters of the Torah, the Rebbe Rashab poured his soul into his Chassidic writings — thousands of pages of maamarim and letters. His passing marked the beginning of the leadership of his son, the Rebbe Rayatz (Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak), who would lead the Chassidim through the harshest Soviet persecutions, when teaching Torah could lead to imprisonment or exile. It was in this crucible that the selfless leadership was forged which would later save Jewish life in the USSR.

11 Nissan — Birth of the Seventh Rebbe (5662/1902)

On the eleventh of Nissan 5662 (1902), in the city of Nikolayev, the future Seventh Lubavitcher Rebbe — Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson — was born. The Rebbe Rashab, his grandfather, sent six telegrams on the occasion of his birth, expressing great joy. The infant's mother, Rebbetzin Chana, was so pious that she performed netilat yadayim (ritual hand washing) before every feeding. Subsequently, 11 Nissan was proclaimed "Education and Sharing Day" in the United States — in recognition of the Rebbe's contribution to the moral education of humanity. The Rebbe taught: true enlightenment is not merely the transmission of information but the cultivation of morality and the recognition of the Creator, for without this foundation, education can become an instrument of destruction.

13 Nissan — The Tzemach Tzedek (5626/1866)

The thirteenth of Nissan marks the yahrzeit of the Third Lubavitcher Rebbe, the Tzemach Tzedek (Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson the Elder), who passed away in 5626 (1866). The Tzemach Tzedek was renowned for his fearless defense of Jewish education before the Tsarist authorities. He was arrested 22 times for his activities — and emerged victorious each time. His famous motto "Tracht gut vet zain gut" ("Think good and it will be good") became a cornerstone principle of Chassidism: bitachon (trust in G-d) does not merely comfort a person but literally transforms reality, drawing down blessing from Above.

2 Iyar — Birth of the Rebbe Maharash (5594/1834)

On the second of Iyar 5594 (1834), the fourth Lubavitcher Rebbe — the Rebbe Maharash (Rabbi Shmuel Schneerson) — was born. He authored the legendary principle of "Lechatchila Ariber" — "From the outset, leap over!" The world says: first try to go underneath, and if that fails, climb over the top. The Rebbe Maharash taught: do not seek roundabout paths — jump over the obstacle from the very start. This approach is especially vital in matters of Ahavat Yisrael (love of one's fellow): do not wait until another person "deserves" your love — love them immediately, unconditionally, lechatchila ariber.
