Spiritual Self-Deception: Why Your "Inspiration" May Be a Dummy

Inspiration from God and from your own ego are two different things

Spiritual Self-Deception: Why Your "Inspiration" May Be a Dummy

Many people confuse genuine spiritual inspiration with the product of their own ego. This mistake can cost an entire life lived in illusion.

The Ego Trap

Artificial religious ecstasy feeds the ego, not the soul. When a person "works themselves up" into spiritual experiences, they create a beautiful wrapper with no content. God may not respond to such "inspirations" because they are directed not at Him but at oneself. It's like an actor who became so immersed in the role of a righteous person that he forgot — he's on a stage, not in the Temple.

The True Response

True service means doing what God wants, not what brings you pleasant sensations. Selfless service creates space for infinite reward. When you remove your ego from the equation, God fills the vacated space with His presence. The paradox: the less you seek spiritual "highs," the more genuine light enters your life.
